The EDLT&CC Bridge Section is renowned for its friendliness — and its tea breaks. We believe that this has created an atmosphere, unique in the area, where people come to enjoy playing bridge together.

 

The Club mostly plays Chicago and Duplicate bridge. Rubber Bridge is now only played during some of our Bridge Drives. For very inexperienced players, we will create a "beginner's table" to enable new players to become familiar with the Club and its methods before joining in with others.

 

Membership is  £20.00 per annum. A scale of reduced fees for joining part way through the year has been introduced. Table money is  £1 for members and £2 for non-members  and includes tea and biscuits during evening play. Tennis and croquet section members are most welcome to join in at no extra subscription.  

 

There are several bridge drives during the year, and a keenly contested annual match between the bridge, tennis and croquet sections. We also hold a duplicate competition evening on the first Wednesday of every quarter. Bridge is played in the large function room at the Club and can accommodate 15 tables.

 

We are proud to believe that we attract new members because we are such a friendly club, helping new members to get as much enjoyment as we ourselves get from the game of Bridge.

Bridge clubs are notorious  for their formality and occasional ‘ rudeness’ - Not us.
