A busy week of tennis at the Dorset Open

East Dorset welcomed the Frost & Co Dorset Open 2016 from Sunday 31st July to Saturday 6th August, supervised by Tournament Referee Kris Dymond. It was a busy week, with lots of competitive junior and adult matches, singles and doubles, and we welcomed juniors from across the country, including a group of youngsters from Scotland.  Play continued despite tricky conditions in the opening days, but fortunately the weather improved as the week went on and the schedule caught up with itself. Thanks to Kris and all the club volunteers who helped make the event a success, including Catherine, Sue and Liz at the tournament desk and all the match supervisors. In total 336 matches were played… so it was certainly a busy week! Special congratulations go to Charlie Newman, winner of the Betty Booth Sportsmanship Award 2016, who showed great sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game throughout the week. Betty Booth award
