We’re pleased to announce that work on the floodlights and conversion of the 4 hard courts (7-10) to artificial clay will be taking place over the next few weeks.
It means that from 4th December these courts will be out of action for 3 weeks leading up to Christmas. We will keep you all informed if there are any changes to this.
You can appreciate as deliveries take place and Contractors’ vehicles are on site there will be restrictions to parking in particular areas.
We will try to minimise these to help you continue playing tennis!
We thank you in anticipation for your patience and look forward to our enjoying the additional new ‘all-weather’ court surfaces. It will be worth it for our new improved facility in just a few weeks time!
Please come along to the annual Christmas Carol sing along !
Please let Julie know if you would like to take part. Classes start next week.
Croquet and Tennis Fun Day!
Come along and join in the fun when croquet players get to play tennis with a tennis player and tennis players get to play croquet with a croquet player!!!
All followed by a cream tea for the cost of just £4.
Anyone unable to play tennis will be able to play a fun version of croquet bowls.
Please put your name on the list on the notice boards in the clubhouse or contact
Following the recent purchase of an indoor table tennis table, we’re pleased to announce that club evenings will start from Thursday 20th July from 6pm til the bar closes in the function room.
You’re welcome to turn up and play free for one club session, but you’ll then need to sign up as a Table Tennis member (£24 for existing Tennis or Croquet members, and £36 for Bridge / Non Playing / New members).
You’ll be able to play at other times too when the function room is free, e.g. if it’s a wet Saturday club afternoon – you’ll just need to assemble the table and then put it away in the store cupboard afterwards.
If you’re keen to improve your game, Steve Moreman will be running table tennis coaching sessions too.
Following the success of the first series of drawing classes, local artist Julie Herring will be running a second course from April to June. Again it’s Drawing from Nature (Still Life) for Beginners and Improvers, please see the poster below for more details:

Many members of our club willingly give up their time and resources to help support the club on a voluntary basis, so we’re pleased to announce that the Executive Committee has agreed to introduce a recognition scheme to formally record and reward the efforts of our volunteers!
The Committee has agreed to introduce a quarterly scheme continuing through the years on a quarterly basis, with a new Volunteer of the Quarter
announced at the end of March, June, September and December. Each Volunteer of the Quarter will be rewarded with a £50 voucher, as a thank you for their contribution to the club.
Our first ever Volunteer of the Quarter is Mark Hamann, in recognition of his hard work in organising the club’s fireworks night last November, as well as being our Wimbledon Ballot Administrator. Well done Mark!
Nominations for the scheme should be sent to Penny Simmonds, Club Secretary, for discussion and agreement at an Executive Committee meeting. Penny can be contacted on email@example.com
Our recent Musical Night featuring the club’s super group ‘The Hard Court Rockers’ was a great success, with all tickets sold and everyone enjoying an evening of music and dance (plus a buffet supper by Blue Hill Cafe).
Thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed the show, and we look forward to welcoming you to our next social event soon!
