Coronavirus emergency – club closure

Following the Prime Minister’s nation-wide announcement yesterday evening, the Club will be closed completely until further notice.

To be clear, Members will not be allowed to enter the premises for any reason, even on foot.  Anyone whose car is parked at the Club should please remove it as there are no current plans to re-open the barrier to the Club.  All Max Tennis School coaching activities are also on hold.

The EDLTCC Board is actively considering the many implications of the ‘lock-down’, including financial matters, at its virtual meeting next Monday.  Further communications will follow in due course.

For those members who have already paid their 2020/21 subscriptions, many thanks for your support, we will contact you as soon as we can to let you know about Club financing in the light of the current emergency.

For current members who have not yet registered (as the first step in the subscriptions renewal process) and who would have done so but for the Government’s announcement, we will stay in contact with you.  As soon as there is a realistic prospect of the Club re-opening, you will be advised.  To make sure we have your correct contact details, please complete the club registration form here… thank you!

We appreciate your understanding during these challenging times and we will get through this… stay safe!

EDLTCC – Floodlighting & Clay Courts Update

We’re pleased to announce that work on the floodlights and conversion of the 4 hard courts (7-10) to artificial clay will be taking place over the next few weeks.

It means that from 4th December these courts will be out of action for 3 weeks leading up to Christmas. We will keep you all informed if there are any changes to this.

You can appreciate as deliveries take place and Contractors’ vehicles are on site there will be restrictions to parking in particular areas.

We will try to minimise these to help you continue playing tennis!

We thank you in anticipation for your patience and look forward to our enjoying the additional new ‘all-weather’ court surfaces.  It will be worth it for our new improved facility in just a few weeks time!

Table Tennis at EDLTCC – Thursday evenings

Following the recent purchase of an indoor table tennis table, we’re pleased to announce that club evenings will start from Thursday 20th July from 6pm til the bar closes in the function room.
You’re welcome to turn up and play free for one club session, but you’ll then need to sign up as a Table Tennis member (£24 for existing Tennis or Croquet members, and £36 for Bridge / Non Playing / New members).
You’ll be able to play at other times too when the function room is free, e.g. if it’s a wet Saturday club afternoon – you’ll just need to assemble the table and then put it away in the store cupboard afterwards.
If you’re keen to improve your game, Steve Moreman will be running table tennis coaching sessions too.
