East Dorset welcomed the Frost & Co Dorset Open 2016 from Sunday 31st July to Saturday 6th August, supervised by Tournament Referee Kris Dymond.
It was a busy week, with lots of competitive junior and adult matches, singles and doubles, and we welcomed juniors from across the country, including a group of youngsters from Scotland. Play continued despite tricky conditions in the opening days, but fortunately the weather improved as the week went on and the schedule caught up with itself.
For a full round up of results, please visit the LTA Tournaments website:
It was another successful week for East Dorset’s Louis Allen, who came third in the Men’s Singles, runner-up in the 18U Singles and Doubles, and won the Men’s Doubles with partner Liam Hignett – great play Louis!
Thanks to Kris and all the club volunteers who helped make the event a success, including Catherine, Sue and Liz at the tournament desk and all the match supervisors. In total 336 matches were played… so it was certainly a busy week!
Special congratulations go to Charlie Newman, winner of the Betty Booth Sportsmanship Award 2016, who showed great sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game throughout the week.

If you thought grass courts 1-6 were playing well, cialis
wait until you play on the three courts in the cage! Officially opened on Thursday in time for ladies match practice in the evening, no rx
the coaches and first team players who tried them out in the afternoon described them as excellent. Then in the evening 2 ladies doubles matches were played against Milford and the players were full of praise.
In the Autumn our groundsman Daniel Tomberry re-seeded the courts with rye grass and spread four tonnes of clay based top dressing over the surface, before drag netting in, to improve levelling and bounce. Now we can all reap the benefits!

Have you entered the Club Championships yet? The closing date for entries has been extended to Friday 22nd April to give you more time to enter and pay your entry fee of £5 per player (regardless of how many events you enter, e.g. singles, doubles, seniors, mixed). Entry sheets are on the noticeboard in the club verandah.
Payments must be made promptly (just pop your cash in an envelope with your name on and post it in the letterbox in the lobby). Entries won’t be valid if payment isn’t received by Friday 22nd April. You can also only enter if you’ve renewed your club membership.
Also, don’t forget to write your phone number on the entry sheet too, else your opponents won’t be able to contact you to arrange matches!
Thanks for your cooperation, and remember the more members who sign up, the better the Championships will be for everyone!
