Many members of our club willingly give up their time and resources to help support the club on a voluntary basis, so we’re pleased to announce that the Executive Committee has agreed to introduce a recognition scheme to formally record and reward the efforts of our volunteers! The Committee has agreed to introduce a quarterly scheme continuing through the years on a quarterly basis, with a new Volunteer of the Quarter announced at the end of March, June, September and December. Each Volunteer of the Quarter will be rewarded with a £50 voucher, as a thank you for their contribution to the club. Our first ever Volunteer of the Quarter is Mark Hamann, in recognition of his hard work in organising the club’s fireworks night last November, as well as being our Wimbledon Ballot Administrator. Well done Mark! Nominations for the scheme should be sent to Penny Simmonds, Club Secretary, for discussion and agreement at an Executive Committee meeting. Penny can be contacted on email@example.com.
Our recent Musical Night featuring the club’s super group ‘The Hard Court Rockers’ was a great success, with all tickets sold and everyone enjoying an evening of music and dance (plus a buffet supper by Blue Hill Cafe).
Thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed the show, and we look forward to welcoming you to our next social event soon!

Benefits include increased flexibility and muscle tone, cardio health and protection from injury. Why not give it a try?
We would like to play tribute to Karen Adams, a tennis member at East Dorset for 36 years, who has recently stepped down from her role as Ladies County Captain after many years of captaincy. Karen has been a Dorset County Tennis player since 1979 representing Dorset at all age groups, including playing for over 20 years in the ladies county team. She has won many doubles titles during her time as a member at East Dorset, and has also been a member of West Hants Club for 11 years. Karen assumed the role as Ladies County Captain in 1997 serving on the council and since 2011 was part of the Dorset Executive Committee. Many members at East Dorset will remember Karen organising the Around the World static cycle challenge which was held at the club in 2011 with everyone wearing pink branded sweatshirts and cycling around the clock on exercise bikes in the function room. This event raised over £45,000 for the Dorset Cancer Centre at Poole Hospital, a cause which Karen decided to raise money for after receiving treatment. Karen lives in Poole and is currently a Station Manager for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and the Fire Brigade union representative. In addition to her love of tennis, she is also a keen AFC Bournemouth supporter. Karen’s many years of service to Dorset tennis was recognised at the recent Dorset County LTA AGM at the West Hants Club.
Winter Membership for the Croquet Section is now available, full details can be found here.
